I shot my parents' cat

with insulin, because he's diabetic, silly. But while I was there I couldn't help but shoot a couple other things too. WITH GUNS. Okay, no, with my phone camera. There were thousands of beech nuts on the driveway and the light was neat because it had just rained, but was turning sunny. Hipstamatic may be a crutch, but it's kinda perfect for times like this.

And I don't know who invented the turkey hat or why, but it's amazing. Available in both pre and post-roasting varieties.

Art Awake

...was cool! The vacant second floor of the Alliance building made a good venue for the artwork, bands and of course cupcakes. Seeing that it was a juried show, Deanna was proud to get 2 pieces chosen, a diptych called "You and Me" and "This Kind of Geek," which is on loan from Emily, as it was her birthday present :)

After some initial disappointment (read: near panic attack) at how they had hung "You and Me" (separately,  completely hidden behind a wine tasting guy) we found the people putting it on and got it all straightened out. They hung it properly and all was well. A bunch of DS peeps came, a couple great bands played (especially at the smaller of the two stages)... a good night all in all.

Quite possibly the only photo you'll see of Deanna standing near her own artwork.

Sorry, douchey wine dude, but your Riesling was terrible.

Cause, like, you gotta have an orange guy.

Deanna, Mike Schwabl, Lauren Dixon and Jim Varble overlook "This Kind of Geek."

Hooray, a proper diptych!

Heehee, aww.

Charles explains Deanna's pieces to the onlookers.
